The Hobble ranch was built on a piece of land that Amanda used to live on when she first moved to Appaloosa.

Story Writing Questions:

Was her story planned out from beginning: Mostly, she was supposed to find a cowboy and marry him but Johnny tried to derail that. I knew her beginning and middle, but her ending was up in the air for awhile.

What song/songs that helped in writing this generation: Suddenly – by Billy Ocean, Mirrors – by Justin Timberlake, That’s Where You Find Love – by Westlife.

Was there another ending to this generations story: Yes, originally Amanda was supposed to die from childbirth when Scarlett was born. I went back and forth for weeks and when it finally came time to write the moment when the doctor tells Chuck about Amanda, I couldn’t do it. Not only did it end up changing her ending, it changed the next generations beginning. In the end, I thought the ending of her dying would have worked for her but not the kids. I wanted their story lines to be more upbeat. Plus, I fell in love with her character and couldn’t do it.

What’s one thing about this character that that has not yet been revealed that you would like readers to know: She is a very passionate person. I don’t think that really came across in her story as well as I had hoped.  It’s one of the reasons she was able to follow her dreams after her parents died. She is passionate about everything, her music, her family, anything she pursues.

What’s one thing you would change if you could rewrite her story: I would have to say the ending. I sometimes wish I hadn’t chickened out but I think it’s worked out well.

What’s your favorite thing about her: How caring she is; she just walks up to one of her children or Chuck and hugs them.

What’s your favorite thing about this generation: How these two people came together after experiencing heartbreak and made a happy, loving home for their family.

    1. She has been an amazing character to write for. I'm glad you learned some new things about her.

Jeff...He's an adult in the picture of the whole family too. I think he just keeps getting better looking as he gets older (which I thought Chuck did too).

I admit I got a little teary eyed looking at that family pic. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to these two generations.

Thanks for reading it and commenting!

  2. Amanda sounds like a cool sim. The family is amazing looking. I love having an in depth look at a sim like you did. Makes them seem more real. She even has a favorite swear word. Now who would have thought of that? That is awesome. Good job and looking forward to learning more about the family. Very interesting.

    1. Hi Colorist! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

I loved writing Amanda's character. Her voice was very clear to me and I had little trouble figuring out her story.

I tear up a little when I look at the family picture. I know that Chuck and Amanda's time is very limited now and it's a little painful to see them that old. Seeing Bridge and the rest of her siblings takes a little of the sting away. They definitely got some good genes going for them.

I am so thankful I ran across LateKnight doing a character study! It's really helped me get to know the characters better and I honestly realized that most of these questions I had answers since they were things I had to decide on while writing out Amanda's story. I had to dig a little more for hers and Chuck's answers since it's been awhile since they were the main characters, but I found her character's voice pretty quickly.

Yeah, the whole swear word thing came from a show called "Inside The Actor's Studio." It's really where the "Quick Answer" section came from. They have an actor on the show in front of an audience and the interviewer at the end of the show asks them questions where they give one word answers. I think they ask favorite word, least favorite word, favorite swear word and a couple other things.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I've already finished Bridge and Carson's but I'm waiting till their generation is done (which isn't too far off sadly).

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  3. WHY is Jeff so damn HOT?!!?

Anyway, I haven't read all this because I am at work, but did you really answer all those questions!? WHY, HOW? Am I supposed to do that too?!

    JEEZUS!

    1. Lol! Yeah, he turned out pretty well. =D

I did answer all of the questions and there will be one for Carson and Bridge too. LateKnight did one for Max and I just felt inspired to do one too. I wouldn't expect everyone to do it but I thought it would be interesting to do and for people to read. It also helped me get into the characters' heads more which helped with writing their stories. Just something I decided to do.

Thanks for reading and commenting! I hope you find it interesting!

    2. After I wrote that, I gave it some serious thought and came up with the same answer. It really would be a good idea to fill out something like this, but at the start of each generation (for yourself though because who knows what's going to happen!) It really would help you get into that character's head. I have a problem with staying consistently in character. This would be very helpful! But goodness. This is definitely a weekend project!

    3. This took me days. I split it up. I answered about a third of the questions one day, then a third more another, and the last third another. I then spent a day looking through old pictures for both Amanda and Chuck and figured out where I wanted to put new pictures. Then I went into the game and got the new pictures. So it took about a week to do each one.

Bridge and Carson's won't be so bad though. I didn't have childhood pictures of Amanda and Chuck so I had to do that which took some time.

I will probably do this for every major character I write for. I've already started answering some of these questions for the third generation which helped form the beginning of their stories. I just need to know who it's going to be so I can expand on whose ever story it is. :)
