George - Chapter Seventeen: Happy Birthday, Steph - Part Two: Only A Woman Like You

****A little early, but I figure it's Wednesday somewhere. ;)****

- Once again, NSFW (nudity, adult situations, etc)
- Like part one, this is named for a song and I've supplied it where it occurs.
- Part 3 will be posted on Friday and is a little shorter than the previous two parts.
- Thank you again for reading!

****Steph****

I woke up and my first thought was how it was my birthday, and I always dreaded my birthday. Every year it was just a painful reminder that I was basically alone since most years I had either spent my birthday working or by myself in an apartment, trying desperately to forget what day it was. My birthday had never been anything special; there hadn’t been any parties with friends when I was a little girl, no well wishes from my parents or any other relatives, and most definitely no presents.

The only people who wished me happy birthday were the very few friends I had in school and more recently, a couple people here and there that I had gotten to know over the years living in Bridgeport.  So when George’s grandmother had first mentioned me coming to Appaloosa for my birthday, I had wondered how she knew when it was. It didn’t take me long to realize that someone must have asked Charlotte, who was one of the few people who knew. At first, I was leery about the idea of coming to Appaloosa for my birthday, once again questioning why the Davila and Hobble families would bother.

But soon I started to wonder what it would be like to spend my birthday with a real family, even if it wasn’t mine and after reading Amanda’s last letter, I had almost talked myself into accepting her offer for me to spend my birthday in Appaloosa. Then she had passed away.

Fast forward to yesterday; I had expected George to show up around his normal time of five o’clock. He hadn’t mentioned much about my birthday except that he was coming into town for it and that we were going to spend the weekend together. I honestly didn’t care what we did; we could have sat on the couch all weekend and I would have been ecstatic!

When there had been a knock at the door that morning, I had no idea who it could have been. Charlotte always called before she came over and I wasn’t expecting anyone else. When I saw George standing there I was so shocked, I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t believe that he had surprised me by coming into the city early. Then I was surprised again to find out he was taking me somewhere, and not just any somewhere, but to Appaloosa. When we had arrived here, I was so excited that we were going to be able to spend the weekend together that I didn’t even think about Amanda’s offer for me to come here for my birthday.

Then George told me what had given him the idea to bring me here and for several moments I couldn’t breathe. I hadn’t told anyone about what she had offered and when I had given the letters to George for him to read, I didn’t even think about me staying here being mentioned. Many people would have read that and not taken much notice; but George wasn’t most people. He not only noticed it, he had honed in on it. I had seen him do this with others, with Trev, Charlotte, and other family members where he had this sense about what someone needed before they themselves realized it; and because of him, I woke up on my birthday and for the first time that I could ever remember, I actually smiled.

I rolled over and saw that George wasn’t in bed with me and I sat up to look around the room. What I saw about my heart jump out of my chest.

George - Chapter Seventeen: Happy Birthday, Steph - Part One: She's Got This Thing About Her

After going back and forth for several days, I've finally decided to post the three parts to this chapter on three separate days. Today will be part one, Wednesday is part two, and Friday is part three. They're all shorter chapters, but there's quite a bit that happens in each one. I hope you enjoy them and George's surprises for Steph's birthday. Thanks so much for reading!

I've provided the song that not only inspired this chapter, but is a part of it. It's further in the chapter where it occurs.

****George****

I needed help and there was only one person I could turn to. As I dialed her number, I prayed that she would answer.

“Hey George.”

“Hi, how are you?”

“I’m good, just looking through a bridal magazine.” It had been three weeks since Ethan and Charlotte had gotten engaged and I couldn’t help but smile at how happy Charlotte was. I had been at Steph’s the night that Ethan had proposed and she had immediately called us afterward. They hadn’t wasted any time picking a wedding date in June, which gave them less than two months to plan. “What’s up?”

“I need your help.”

“Sounds serious.” She joked.

“It has to do with the surprise I’m planning for Steph’s birthday.”

“Oh! What’s wrong?”

“I need to figure out a way to get her clothes packed.”

“Let’s see Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So three days? Or would that be two since you’re leaving on Friday?”

“I think two days and the two nights would be enough. Can you help?”

“You’re in luck! I actually have a spare key to her apartment. I can sneak in Wednesday while she’s at work and pack some things for her. And don’t worry, I’ll pack a variety of different things. I’ll pack several dresses, shirts, everything she’ll need for this weekend.”

I let out a sigh of relief. “Thank you! I owe you.”

“Yes, yes you do. And I just might have the thing that will satisfy that debt.”

I was almost afraid to ask. “What’s that?”

“Be one of Ethan’s best men. I plan on asking Steph to be my maid of honor; that way the both of you can walk down the aisle. Maybe even give you a little practice.”

The teasing from her had been unrelenting since she had found out that I was staying at Steph’s place every weekend for the past month.

“If he asks me, I will.” I agreed.

“Hey, have you heard anything else about Trev?” She asked.

It had been four weeks since Trev had gone into the rehab facility and I was honestly shocked that he was still there.

“Not since last weekend. Maybe we’ll hear something this weekend. I know he’s still there though; if he left, my friend would have called me.”

“That’s good. I really hope this is the time he gets better.”

“We all do.”

“Yeah. . .” There was a long silence that usually occurred when anyone talked about Trev. Each week that went by we all became more and more hopeful that he was really taking it seriously this time. “Well, I’ll make sure that Steph is packed and ready to go for Friday. And I won’t spoil anything.” She said, finally breaking our silence.

I laughed. “You better not.”

“I’ll talk to you later.”

We hung up and I looked at my list of things to do. I had three more days to make sure everything was taken care of and in place; three days before my plan for the perfect birthday weekend was to begin. . .

By Friday morning, I was meeting Charlotte in the parking lot of Steph’s apartment. “She’s all set. She won’t have to worry about having anything to wear. So as long as you bought the items she’ll need to get ready, you won’t have to worry about anything. Except her makeup! I almost forgot about that. That’s the only thing she’ll have to grab. There was no way we were going to be able to get all of that for her.” Charlotte explained.

I placed Steph’s bag in my trunk and then closed it. I turned around and was met by Charlotte’s smiling face. “What?” I asked.

She shrugged. “Just that it’s nice to see you happy.”

“I must have caught it from you.” I joked with her.

“I’ll see you soon.” She said.

“Yup.” We hugged goodbye and I quickly walked up to Steph’s apartment. After standing there for several seconds, I knocked and soon heard movement on the other side of the door.

George - Chapter Sixteen: Fears and Dreams

A few notes before the chapter and there will also be several after.

***This chapter is NSFW***
- If nudity and sex aren't your thing, do not continue. You've been warned. :)
- This begins a story arc for Steph. She had a mini one at the beginning of this generation, but now we'll begin to follow her through this new transition of hers and George's relationship.
- Shouldn't be a big surprise that this is a long chapter since that's what I tend to write, but I thought I'd warn for it anyway.

Thanks for reading!!

I couldn’t keep myself from pacing back and forth between the kitchen and living room while keeping an eye on the door. George had called almost two hours ago to tell me that he was leaving the rehab facility and I had no idea how he was still going. When I had talked to him earlier in the morning, he hadn’t slept at all. Trev had spent the rest of the night in and out of consciousness and when he was awake, George had said that he was hostile and irritable. He had also said that was normal and that he expected Trev to change his mind about going into rehab by the time he was discharged, but he and everyone had been surprised when Trev had said he still wanted to go.

Beyond that, I didn’t know anything. George had called me long enough to tell me that he was riding with Trev to the facility and that he’d call me back when he left.  That had been around one in the afternoon. When he did call, he had been up 36 hours and I could only imagine how exhausted and emotionally drained he was.

I had gone into a trance as I paced back and forth and barely heard the knock on the door. It didn’t take me long to walk over and open it and what I saw was shocking.

He was standing there slumped over and there were dark circles under his eyes. He quietly made his way into the apartment and placed his bag down while I hurriedly closed the door. He leaned against the wall and it looked like it was all he could do to stand there even with the wall holding him up.

I grabbed his hand and led him into the living room to the couch where he tried to sit up but I gently put my arm around his shoulder and eased him down till he was lying down with his head in my lap.

He looked up at me as I started running my fingers through his hair. “Did he get there okay?” I asked him and he nodded. There were so many other questions going through my head but I knew he needed to sleep. In less than a minute he had closed his eyes and I continued to sit there and run my fingers through his hair as I looked down at him. I had never seen him asleep and I had to fight the urge to touch one of his cheeks, not wanting to wake him up.

I lost track of how long I sat there, running my fingers through his hair and listening to him lightly snore but eventually my legs started to hurt from sitting in one position too long and I began to wonder if I could get up without him waking up. I eased my hands underneath his head and tried to keep it level as I tried to scoot off the couch. He moaned a little as I finally got free and placed his head down on the sofa.

George - Chapter Fifteen: A Constant Voice

I've pretty much stopped giving language warnings, but half of this chapter is from Trev's point of view and he is a fan of very colorful language. Just wanted to warn readers in case it offends some people. :)

****Trev****

I was aware that I was surrounded by a blinding white light.  That was all I knew. I didn’t remember anything before that. There was no noise, just this really annoying light everywhere.

“What the hell!” I complained as I circled around staring into. . .the same God damn white light. “Hello? Is anyone there? What the hell is going on?!”

I heard a noise behind me and I turned around. “Hello? Who’s there?” I squinted, and for a moment I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. The light seemed to dim slightly and in front of me was a blank screen. “I don’t know what stupid ass trick someone’s pulling on me but it’s not fucking  funny.” At that very second the screen flickered on. There was no picture, just more white. “Damn it! Charlotte? George? Are you guys playing a trick on me?” I asked as I turned to look behind me but there was still a blinding light surrounding me. The only thing visible was the screen.

I heard a crackle and turned around. The screen came to life with what looked like a waterfall and I instantly recognized it. It was Cinnamon Crest Falls back in Appaloosa.

“What the. . .” The image on the screen fast forwarded through town till it arrived at Mom’s house. But it looked different. The bushes weren’t as big as they are now and the house overall looked newer. I watched as the image fast forwarded again as it went through the front door and up the stairs, eventually turning into what was now the music room. But what I saw when the door opened wasn’t musical instruments, it was a nursery and my heart stopped beating when I saw who was in there.

Dad. He was standing by the windows with his back to me. “DAD!!!” I called out to him but he didn’t turn around. “DAAAD!!”

He turned a little but didn’t turn completely around. I could tell then that he was holding something, but I couldn’t quite make it out. It was then that I realized that I was now in the nursery.

“How the hell. . .?” I turned around and saw a screen but this time it was showing the place with the blinding white light. It was like I had traveled through the screen into the nursery. I was baffled how that had happened but I was more interested in the fact that I was now in the same place that Dad was. “DAD!!”

He still didn’t turn around but I heard him say something. “So, what do you think, Trev? You think we’ll play a couple of football games in the yard someday?”

“What?! What the hell are you talking about?!”

He turned completely around and looked at what he was holding. “Maybe you’ll even play high school ball like your old man.” I watched as the boy looked up at Dad and smiled.

“This is fucking insane!” I yelled as I watched Dad continue to talk and play with me as a toddler. “I must have drunk too much last night.” I closed my eyes and tried to pinch myself, hoping that when I opened my eyes that I would be lying in my bed.

I slowly opened my eyes and grunted at what I saw. “UGH!!! Not again!!!” I was back where the blinding white light was. The screen in front of me fast forwarded again through some things with Dad and me but I didn’t remember them . I eventually did start recognizing things though. The time dad and I played catch at the falls, Dad and me fishing during one of our vacations, Dad and me entering the pie eating contest. . .it all flashed across the screen and I watched as I got bigger and he got older.

George and Steph

I felt it was time to give the blog a facelift again and in doing so, I needed to take some pictures of George and Steph. I figured since I had them at my disposal I would just make an entire photoshoot out of the event. ;)

It's no secret that I listen to music while I write. The playlist I have for George, for Steph, and then for them combined (ones that I consider their couple songs) is insanely long! You only get to hear a fraction of what I listen to. So as a thank you to those of you that read this story, I thought I'd share George and Steph's photoshoot and provide some listening music (one of their songs).

Hope you enjoy! Thank you so very much for reading and supporting this story!

And just because we don't take ourselves too seriously around here. . .

Yes, George. You might marry her one day

Oh wait! That reminds me! There's one more.
 .
.
.
.
Something that could happen if these two can get it together.
.
.
.
.

And just because I love this picture SOOO much and love black and white pictures. . .

Thanks again for reading!
